When I introduce EFT to ElderCollege attendees, I ask them to try sharing this “trick” with their grandchildren: Last thing before going to sleep, while continually tapping on the Karate Spot, think of or tell, the biggest (unhappy, anxious, disappointing) event from today for about a half minute. Next, while tapping on the Karate Spot, think of or tell, the biggest (happy, delightful, delicious) event from today for about a half minute. Then, in the same motion, using their index fingers of each hand, beginning at the corners of their mouth, draw a “smile” upward to their ears. I call this “smile yourself to sleep”. Later, when I see those people again on the street, they tell me it works so well, they do it for themselves too. So now, I call it “Not Just For Kids…the best way to end the day and sleep well”. (This technique is credited with helping children to “solve” anxieties before they become stuck emotions, teaching them resilience, and avoiding having to wait until they are 40 to overcome those long-held childhood issues.(:-))
