I would like to share, to the best of my recollection of this true story, a few succinct words that might give others insight to another person’s journey toward acceptance, while searching for meaning within their own overwhelming stages of grief…)

An interviewer asked a prominent man who’s name most of us would recognize, and who had “lost” his son at age 35 about his experience with his feeling of grief, and listeners heard him tell this brief story: “It’s as though God said to me, I have a soul who wants to come to you on earth as your son. He will bring you joy and lessons and it will be a beautiful relationship. However, his purpose on earth will end after 35 years and your grief will be enormous. You can avoid the immense sadness of grieving him by choosing not to have him in your life, or you can receive him into your life knowing that it will end at his age of 35. And, so I said…

    “I’ll take the 35”.

  • Anna:

Hello Al, thank you once again for a beautiful message. I’m wondering if you might, in a future 8 for 8 session, address grief again, the grief we feel when a relationship ends, or a marriage ends, and we feel deeply sad.
Thanks again for sharing your time and sharing this powerful message.
    Anna

  • Thank you both for your comments. Given a choice I think most of us would choose the “35″.
Grief is an area where i feel very comfortable sharing my thoughts and ideas. I would be happy to revisit the topic again. I have no plan for these topics and while I am not likely to go there in the next few weeks the topic may come around again soon.
I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you.

  • Bonnie Guthrie:

Our family recently lost a sister to a massive stroke that was very sudden. The trauma to my sisters body was shocking to us because of the procedure used to try and release the pressure in the brain. I was able to release some of the emotional trauma for myself through surrogate tapping for my sisters soul. My family however, do not beleive in tapping. Thank you for this sharing – it has helped me already. Bonnie
